Chunfa ZHAO received his B.Sc degree in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing from Wuhan University, China in 1995; M.Sc degree in Engineering Machinery and Ph.D. degree in Transportation Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University, China , in 1998 and 2003. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at School of Mechanics and Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University from 2003 to 2004. Then he worked as a associate professor(2005-2007), professor(2008- ) for State Key Lab of Traction Power, Southwest Jiaotong University. He gave lectures on maglev train dynamics in Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM, South Korea) as a visiting professor in 2008. He was a visiting scholar of Department of Civil and Enirnomental Engnieering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagain, USA in 2013.
He is the winner (8/15, 2005) of frist prize of National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress, China, the winner (2006)of Program for New Century Excellent Talent in University, Ministry of Education, China, the ecipient (2012) of Railway Science & Technology Award of Mao Yisheng Education Foundation, the ecipient (2007) of Fok Ying Tong Education Foundation Award for Outstanding Young Teacher in Colleges and Universities (Research Prize) and the winner (2007) of Sichuan Outstanding Youth Science Foundation. His doctoral dissertation (Title: maglev vehicle system dynamics, Advisor: Prof. Wanming ZHAI) earned honorable mention of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of China in 2006.
His reseaches have been supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China (National Basic Research Program/973 Program, High-tech R&D Program/863 Program and National Key Technologies R&D Program), the Ministry of Education (MOE) of China, the Sichuan Outstanding Youth Science Foundation and several industrial group railway companies and design institutes, e.g. China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation Limited (CSR), China Northern Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry (Group) Corporation Limited (CNR), China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., LTD, Shuohuang Railway Company and Shanghai Maglev Transportation Co., LTD etc. (2013-10-20)

Description of Research Group:牵引动力国家重点实验室拥有一支高素质的科研队伍,其中包括一批以院士领衔的学术造诣较高的学科带头人,年富力强的中青年科技骨干和一批精干稳定的技术人员。整个队伍的年龄与知识结构合理,人员团结协作,具有良好的科学献身精神。实验室现有职工69名,其中教授(研究员)41名,副教授(副研究员)21名,博士指导教师30名。实验室人才辈出,在国内外有重要影响,有院士3名,国家973计划项目首席科学家2名,“长江学者”特聘教授3名,国家杰出青年基金获得者6名,国家教学名师1名,跨(新)世纪优秀人才培养基金获得者16名,全国优秀博士学位论文获得者5名,国家“百千万人才工程”人选3名,国家级突出贡献专家1名,省部级突出贡献专家12名。1人获何梁何利科学与技术进步奖,1人获何梁何利科学与技术创新奖,1人荣获第九届“光华工程科技奖”。2011年实验室被科技部授予“‘十一五’国家科技计划执行优秀团队奖”。

Description of Research Group:列车与线路研究所是隶属于牵引动力国家重点实验室的跨学科研究所,涉及车辆工程、载运工具运用工程、铁道工程、桥梁工程、工程力学、环境振动与噪声等多个学科领域,以动力学仿真分析设计、振动测试评估为主要研究方向,开展前沿基础理论研究与工程应用研究。其特色在于将机车车辆、轨道、桥梁、路基等作为一个整体大系统,综合研究高(快)速列车、重载列车、磁悬浮列车以及城市轨道交通车辆动态运行的安全性与平稳性、车辆运行对基础结构的动力作用影响及其引起的环境振动与噪声等相关问题,进而指导设计与生产实践。主要完成的相关成果分别获得国家科技进步一等奖1项、二等奖1项,教育部和四川省科学技术奖各一等奖各1项。2004年首批入选教育部创新团队。
