Profile
Zhengye Zhong , Ph.D., Master Supervisor, obtained a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology in Germany in 2015. After graduating with a PhD, he continued to work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Clausthal University of Technology. He joined Southwest Jiaotong University in July 2017.
He has been engaged in long-term research on the microstructure, deformation mechanism, and failure mechanism of metallic materials. He is skilled in synchrotron radiation high-energy X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction, and laboratory X-ray diffraction. He is devoted to studying the correlation between the structure and properties of metallic materials, to improve material design and enhance material service performance, via synchrotron radiation high-energy X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction, electron scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and laboratory X-ray diffraction, etc . The completed research work mainly includes fracture analysis of EA4T electric locomotive axles, analysis of hot-rolled cracks in 200 series stainless steel, study of the texture induced anisotropy in 7000 series aluminum alloy, study of deformation induced phase transformation in TiAl intermetallic compounds, study of the effect of rare earth element neodymium on the deformation mechanism magnesium alloy, study of residual stress in aircraft turbine blades, study of phase transformation anisotropy in NiTi shape memory alloy, study of impact damage in 304 stainless steel, study of annealing twinning in aluminum, study of the impact response of rare earth magnesium alloy, study of the anisotropy in precipitation strengthened high entropy alloy, and study of neutron irradiation damage in aluminum, etc. Currently, he has published approximately 30 SCI/EI papers in international journals such as Materials Science and Engineering A, Materials Characterization, and Journal of Applied Crystallography. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for journals such as Scripta Materialia.
