During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting student at the University of South Dakota from 2008 to 2009 under a China Scholarship Council fellowship, working with Professor Xiao-Tian Wang on the cognitive and neural mechanisms of behavioral decision-making using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

His earlier work examined the behavioral dynamics and neural basis of framing effects, with articles appearing in Neuropsychologia, Social Neuroscience, and Neural Regeneration Research; more recent work extends to consumer decision-making and ecological rationality. He has served as principal investigator on the Ministry of Education Youth Fund for Humanities and Social Sciences project "Cognitive and Neural Basis of Ecological Rationality" and on a project supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, and has been a key participant in several General and Young Scientists Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
