Zhang Xiaobo, PhD in Engineering, Master's Supervisor, IEEE/ACM/CAAI Member CCF senior member, director of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Artificial Intelligence, teacher of the Department of Artificial Intelligence of the School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence of Southwest Jiaotong University, director of the Service Management Office of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Southwest Jiaotong University and deputy director of the Smart Medical Research Center, visiting scholars of the National University of Singapore and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenzhen Advanced Technology Institute, and established good academic exchanges and cooperation relations with relevant teams of the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Emergency Management University (preparatory), Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing University of Technology, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenzhen Advanced Technology Institute and other units, won the title of Outstanding Communist Party Member of Southwest Jiaotong University "Striving for Excellence", and won the title of Sichuan Province in 2023 Third Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award (the first person to complete) Won the second prize (first author) of the 5th Safety Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Association of Work Safety in 2024, and the ACM Chengdu Branch Rising Star Award in 2024.
Currently, Zhang Xiaobo is the principal investigator of a National Natural Science Foundation general project. He has also led a central guidance project for local scientific and technological development, three key research and development plan projects in Sichuan Province, one special funding project for basic scientific research at a central university, and five other provincial and ministerial-level projects. In addition, he has led over ten horizontal cooperation projects.
In terms of academic achievements, Zhang Xiaobo has published more than 30 papers in international journals such as IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TNSRE, Information Fusion, KBS, Measurement, and CIKM. He has also won Best Paper and Best Poster Paper awards at international conferences such as BIBM. Zhang Xiaobo has been authorized/accepted for over 10 domestic invention patents, registered 5 software copyrights, and served as a reviewer for international journals such as NPJ Digital Medicine, BMC Bioinformatics, and Frontiers of Computer Science, as well as for international and domestic academic conferences such as PAKDD, PRICAI, and CCF Big Data.

Description of Research Group:The Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Southwest Jiaotong University was established on June 6, 2018, built upon the foundation of the Sichuan Province Key Laboratory of Cloud Computing and Intelligent Technology in Universities. It is home to a high-level research team that includes IEEE Fellows, members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, national outstanding scientific and technological workers, members of the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Committee in the Department of Computer Science, leaders of the "Ten Thousand Talents Plan," Changjiang Scholars, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and heads, deputy heads, and members of expert groups for major national R&D programs, such as the National Key R&D Program, the Science and Technology Support Program, and the 863 Program.
The institute has jointly established several key platforms, including the Ministry of Science and Technology's Key Innovation Team in Cloud Service Platform Technology, the International Joint Research Center for Modern Transportation Communication and Sensing Networks, the National Engineering Laboratory for Comprehensive Transportation Big Data Application Technologies, the National Engineering Laboratory for Urban Rail Transit System Safety Assurance, the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for System Trustworthiness and Automatic Verification, and the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Railway Traffic Information Engineering and Technology.
Currently, the institute has more than 160 postdoctoral, doctoral, and master’s students. It has undertaken over 60 international collaboration projects, national key R&D programs, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the 973 Program, the 863 Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and other provincial and ministerial-level projects. The research team has published over 500 academic papers (with more than 300 indexed by SCI/EI), authored 8 books, published 18 international conference proceedings, and 10 special issues in SCI journals. It has been granted over 30 patents. The institute has established extensive scientific and technological cooperation and exchange relationships with numerous universities, research institutes, and enterprises both domestically and internationally, with considerable influence.
The main research fields of the institute include the theoretical foundations of artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation, smart grids, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent civil engineering, smart healthcare, and smart cities, among others.
The Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Southwest Jiaotong University is dedicated to meeting the information processing needs of the big data era, striving to create a democratic, open, relaxed, and collaborative academic and research environment.
