Prof. Jianqiang Zhang obtained his Bachelor and Master degree of Agriculture in Southwest Agricultural University in 1983 and 1988 respectively. After receiving his degree, he worked as a lecturer in Southwest Agricultural University, and then an associate professor from 1992 to 2001. In 1997, he studied in Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and obtained his Environmental PhD degree in March, 2001. As the introduction of talent in environmental discipline, he came back to China as a professor working in Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University in June, 2001. As one of the academic leaders in Environmental Ecology and academic and technical candidates in Sichuan Province, Prof. Zhang mainly engaged in the research on eco-restoration theory and technology of environmental pollution, principles and technology of wastewater eco-treatment engineering, eco-planning and evaluation, theory and technology of low-carbon economy and circular economy. He is currently a member of academic group for environmental eco–science, an invited reviewer of Journal of Geographical Science, China Journal of Highway and Transport, Journal of Southwest Jiaotong University, Journal of Chang'an University, and Earth and Environment, etc. Besides, he is also an expert of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, deputy director of Ecology Commission in Environmental Scientific Society of Sichuan Province(ESSSP), a councilor of Sichuan Ecology Society(SES). Prof. Zhang teaches Environmental Ecology, Environmental Engineering Microbiology for undergraduates, and Environmental Assessment and Restoration Ecology, Ecological Engineering, Environmental Biotechnology, Landscape Ecology, Pollution Ecology and Bioremediation, Urban Ecology for postgraduates. As the TOP10 supervisor of SWJTU, he has supervised more than 50 undergraduates and more than 60 postgraduates so far. Now he has 13 students for master degree and 8 for doctor. The dissertation of Dr. Wenlai Xu was awarded as National Outstanding Doctor’s Thesis of Municipal Engineering Discipline, Sichuan Outstanding Doctor's Thesis and Outstanding Doctor’s thesis of Southwest Jiaotong University, the Master's Thesis of Xinjie Wang and Jijun Liang were awarded as Sichuan Outstanding Master's Thesis, the Master's Thesis of other 7 students were awarded as Outstanding Master’s thesis of Southwest Jiaotong University. He has been involved in more than ten research projects on international cooperation level, national, provincial and ministerial leve with five of them won the provincial or ministerial level awards. What’s more, he has successively published more than 130 papers, including 30 papers in three international retrieved papers (SCI, EI, ISTP), more than 80 papers in core journals, 10 national patents and 6 monographs and textbooks.
