Faculty Profile

Zhongyuan Xu, Ph.D. (Postdoc), Associate Professor, and Master Supervisor. Dr. Xu graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware in August 2021. In 2022, he was recognized as a High-Level Overseas Talent of Sichuan Province. In 2023, he was selected for the "Youth Talent Development Program" at Southwest Jiaotong University. His primary teaching and research focus includes numerical analysis in hydrogeology, geological hazard early warning and forecasting, with key research interests in groundwater numerical modeling methods, engineering hydrogeological disaster prediction, 3D geological modeling, and applications of machine learning in geosciences.

Dr. Xu has led several research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Department, and various industry-sponsored projects. He has published over 30 academic papers in top journals such as Water Resources Research, Journal of Hydrology, and JGR: Earth Surface. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for prominent SCI journals, including Journal of Hydrology, Marine Pollution Bulletin, Hydrology and Earth System Sciences, and Advances in Water Resources.
