TAO Hongcai, born in 1964, received his B.Sc. degree and M.Sc. degree in Computer Application from HeFei University of Technology in 1985, and Southwest Jiaotong University in 1988, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in Traffic Information Engineering and Control from Southwest Jiaotong University in 2008. He joined Southwest Jiaotong University in 1988, and now is Professor of Department of Software Engineering at School of Information Science & Technology. Prof. TAO has taken charge of or researched as a main member several research projects. He has authored and co-authored 8 books and published over 100 papers in journals and international conference proceedings, in which "Principles and Design of Database, 2nd Edition" was selected as “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” National level official textbook. He has been a reviewer for several academic journals, and an expert for several research projects of different level organizations.
