Supervisor of Master's Candidates
Tao Gongquan received the B.Eng. degree in engineering structure analysis from the Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) in China in 2007, the M.Eng. degree in railway vehicle operation engineering from SWJTU in 2013, and the Ph.D. degree in railway vehicle operation engineering from SWJTU in 2018. In April 2019, Dr. Tao started his career and served as an Assistant Professor in the State Key Laboratory of Traction Power at SWJTU.
Dr. Tao's research activities cover all kinds of railways, including high speed, heavy haul, locomotives and metros. Wheel-rail rolling contact mechanics, wear, rolling contact fatigue, wheel out-of-roundness, wheel and rail profile optimization, wheel and rail short wavelength irregularities intelligent detection are among the main topics studied in recent years. He has authored over 50 journal papers and more than 10 conference papers. He has been involved in several projects as a director or principle investigator such as the National Natural Science Fund of China, National Basic Research Program of China.
