Faculty Profile

Professor Pan Wei, doctoral supervisor. He started working in 1975. He graduated from physics major and engaged in university teaching and scientific research since 1982. Then, he subsequently received his B.S. degrees of science (theoretical physics) and Ph.D. degrees of engineering (information and communication engineering). He successively served as deputy dean and dean of the School of Information Science and Technology of Southwest Jiaotong University. He is the Experts with State Council Special Allowance, Advisory Panel Members of National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), Key Special Responsibility Experts of National Key Research and Development Program of China "Key Scientific Issues in Transformative Technologies", Review group experts of Information Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc.

He served as the counselor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government, Member of  Sichuan Province Policy Advisory Committee, and Deputy of the People's Congress of Sichuan Province. He is also a member of the China Communication Society, vice chairman of Sichuan Communication Society, vice chairman of Sichuan Electronics Society and Optics Society, and consultant of Sichuan Computer Society.

He is mainly engaged in the research of information and communication engineering, optical communication, semiconductor laser technology, microwave photonics and other fields. He has presided over 40 projects, such as the National key research and development plan project, National high-tech R&D program of China (863 Program), a number of National natural science foundation Key Program/Major Program / General Program, Special project of Science and technology commission of military commission, Key project of Science and technology research of ministry of education, Special fund for doctoral program of higher education (priority development field/doctoral program), Sichuan Province basic research/science and technology support/major/international cooperation key projects, Major/key projects of National Railway Group Co., LTD., as well as corporate cooperation projects. He has published more than 200 papers in important academic journals, obtained more than 10 authorized invention patents, and won 3 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards. A number of his graduate students have been selected into the National Talent and Young Talent programs, and have become leading talents and backbone of innovation in key universities, research institutes and enterprises.
