In terms of scientific research, he is committed to the research on rail transportation organization and its industrial applications, and has rich experience in classic and cutting-edge theoretical methodologies such as system simulation, optimization theory, and artificial intelligence. He is good at the integration of cutting-edge technologies with the field of rail transportation in both theoretical and applied aspects. He has developed a complete set of first-class multi-agent simulation method systems for rail transportation organization, covering single-track railways, high-speed railways, high-speed maglev lines, urban rail transit lines, high-speed railway stations, marshalling stations, district stations, train traction calculation, and tracking interval time simulation. He has extensive research accumulation in issues such as train operation adjustment, optimization of arrival and departure lines and route schemes at railway stations, optimization of passenger flow distribution in urban rail transit, optimization of train tracking interval time, optimization of lane-level micro-trajectories for autonomous vehicles, and optimization of trajectories at autonomous vehicle intersections.

He undertakes undergraduate teaching of courses such as Railway Station and Hub, and Automation of Marshalling Station Work. He has participated in the construction of several national top-quality courses, presided over and participated in multiple provincial teaching reform projects, and as the course leader, he has built the "Railway Station and Hub" course into a first-class course and an advanced course in Sichuan Province. He has profound attainments in feeding back system simulation technology into teaching, and has developed a large number of teaching platforms, systems, and tools.

He has published more than 100 papers in various journals, including top domestic and international journals such as Transportation Research Part B, Part C, Part E, Chinese Science Bulletin, and Journal of the China Railway Society. He holds 14 national invention patents, has published 4 teaching materials, and obtained more than 10 software copyrights. He has presided over more than 30 research projects of various types, including general projects and youth projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, sub-projects of key special projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and national and provincial-level projects from the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., etc. He has also participated in more than 40 national and provincial-level projects.
