Xianfeng Liu, Full Professor of Department of Road and Railway Engineering in Southwest Jiaotong University, Member of ISSGE and CISMGE-CCES. He obtained his Ph.D degree in 2010 at Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France, and then joined Priority Research Centre for Geotechnical Science and Engineering and Australian Research Centre of Excellence in Geotechnical Science and Engineering in 2011 until the end of 2017 when he was appointed a professorship by Southwest Jiaotong University. His research interests span from unsaturated soil mechanics (particularly expansive soils) to static and dynamic behaviour of high-speed railway embankments over reinforced grounds as well as to geoenvironmental engineering. Over the past years, Dr. Liu has been involved in many competitive research projects funded by The French National Research Agency, Australian Research Council and the former Ministry of Railway, China. So far, he has published about 60 papers in English and Chinese, including 30 papers published in flagship journals in geotechnical field, mainly in Geotechnique, Canadian Geotechnical Journal, Applied clay science, Computers and Geotechnics, Acta Geotechnica, Geotechnical testing Journal, Rock mechanics and rock engineering. In addition, he also serves as the Editorial Board Member of Soils and foundations and a reviewer for more than 15 reputable journals in the field of geotechnical and geoenviromental engineering, as well as Academic-chair of Rail Transit, World Transport Convention, Beijing, 2018.

Description of Research Group:Relying on the Key Laboratory of Line Engineering of the Ministry of Education of Southwest Jiaotong University, a joint scientific research team was formed with teachers Jiang Guanlu, Yuan Shengyang and Li Jianguo. At present, the team is studying for 5 doctors and 17 masters. The team has maintained long-term exchanges and cooperation with many well-known European and American universities such as the Central University of Technology in France (Nantes, Lyon), the University of Paris, France, the University of Newcastle, Australia, the University of Liege, Belgium, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain. The outstanding graduate students of the team have the opportunity to be recommended to international cooperation colleges to study for a doctorate degree or to jointly train a doctorate.
