Faculty Profile

Trained as an architect, Dr. Ji Li received a Ph.D. in Urbanism and Urban Architecture (Netherlands, 2021), a Master’s in Architectural Design and Theory (China, 2017) and a Bachelor of Architecture (China, 2014). He is now appointed as an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, Southwest Jiaotong University. He currently serves as the Executive Editor of the journal Built Heritage, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Lijiang Old Town Architectural Heritage Protection Association, and a Member Representative of the International Network for Urban-rural Heritage Conservation in Higher Education Institutions (UHC-HEI Network). Dr. Ji Li has been selected for the Sichuan Provincial Talent Program (2023), appointed as a Young Expert in the Provincial Expert Pool for Inheriting and Developing Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture (2023), and recognised as a High-Level Overseas Returnee Talent in Sichuan Province (2022). He has rich academic research experience at multiple relevant institutions, such as the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, the Lijiang Old Town Protection Management Bureau, and the Lijiang Academy of Cultural Heritage.

Dr. Ji Li has published over 30 academic papers and one English book. He has led multiple research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, MoE Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation of China, and the Sichuan Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China. The education team he belongs to received SWJTU’s First Prize for Teaching Achievements (2020-2024), currently leading one Sichuan Provincial Higher Education Advanced Course Construction Project, one Sichuan Provincial Higher Education Senior Training Quality and Teaching Reform Project, and has completed one SWJTU’s National First-Class Undergraduate Course Construction Project (2022).

 Green and Low-Carbon Technologies
