Professor Gao Zengan received his BA degree in English Language and Literature from Southwest Teachers’ University (now called Southwest University) in 1988, MA degree in Modern English Linguistics from Sichuan University in 1994, and PhD degree in Management Science and Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University in 2007. He went to UQ Business School, the University of Queensland, Australia, from 2005 through 2006 and the University of Calgary, Canada, in 2008 as a Visiting Professor for cooperative research. From 2008 through 2010, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Economics, Fudan University. He is currently a professor at the Department of Finance, School of Economics and Management, Southwest Jiaotong University. He also works as a distinguished research fellow at China Center for Anti-Money Laundering Studies, Fudan University.

In the field of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT), international trade, WTO and fair trade, service economy, and enterprise management, Professor Gao has accomplished 24 funding programs and published nearly 60 research works, including 19 books. His research calls a wide attention from both academia and industry. In particular, his AML/CFT research was awarded by the National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, PRC. He was also a recipient of Sichuan Excellent Doctoral Dissertation (2009) and Sichuan Excellent Researcher in Philosophy and Social Science (2011).

As one of the three Certified CAMS Instructors in mainland China, he is widely recognized in the field of anti-money laundering training. He is also a member of Miami-based Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).

He serves as Vice Director of Sichuan Research and Planning Institute of Service Economy and is active in service industry consulting and planning.

As well, he has many years of experience in international trade practice. He once worked as Vice General Manager at Shanghai East-China Branch, Sichuan Silk Import and Export Corporation.

Research Interests

Dr Gao’s research interests include: anti-money laundering and financial supervision, international trade (especially WTO and fair trade), service economy, enterprise management, and intercultural communication.
