Yan Zhu is a professor at the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence of Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). She received her Computer Science PhD degree from Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany in 2004 and her BSc and MSc degree from the Southwest Jiaotong University, PRC, both in Computer Science.

She was a research staff member at Department of Computer Science of Darmstadt University of Technology (Germany) from 1998 to 2004. Before that time she had worked as a research assistant at Department of Computer Science and Mathematics of Philipps University of Marburg (Germany) for one year. She has joined the faculty of SWJTU since 2005 and is leading the Big data and Data mining Group.

Her research interests span many aspects of data mining, social network computing, big data analysis and management. She has published more than 60 SCI/EI indexed papers and her papers have been received more than 120 citations and about 50 SCI citations.

Dr. Zhu was the Yanghua Scholar of Southwest Jiaotong University. She received the Zhan Tianyou Award for Outstanding Teacher in 2018 and the Tang Lixin Award for Outstanding Teacher in 2017, and has been awarded the Distinguished Teacher of Southwest Jiaotong University since 2014. She serves as a TPC member of many international conferences and workshops including DEXA，CMS，CSAE and so on. She is an active reviewer for top-level international journals, e.g. TKDE, ESWA, INS, and so on. She has published a number of works, including three books published by Shaker Verlag (Germany, 2004) and SWJTU Press (China, 2011, 2019).
