Yang Anwen is Professor of Translation Studies at Southwest Jiaotong University, where he also serves as Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. He holds a Ph.D. in Literature and supervises doctoral candidates in ‌Medio-Translatology‌ as well as master’s students in translation studies, applied linguistics, and the MTI program.

Professor Yang has been principal instructor for two National First-Class Courses (2018, 2020) and chief editor of National “12th Five-Year Plan” textbooks (2012). He was recognized as a university teaching excellence awardee from 2014 onward, and He was a visiting scholar at SOAS, University of London (2014–2015). He previously served as Assistant Dean (2011–2016) and Associate Dean (2016–2024) of the School of Foreign Languages, overseeing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

His research focuses on translation studies, Medio-Translatology, and foreign language pedagogy. He has led more than 20 national and provincial projects and currently leads a National Social Science Fund project on the overseas translation and reception of Bai Hua’s poetry. He has authored or co-authored 38 English textbooks, published nearly 20 articles in CSSCI and core journals, and written or translated five monographs.

Professor Yang is a board member of the Overseas Sinology Research Committee of the Chinese Comparative Literature Association and the Sichuan Translators Association, as well as an expert member of the Translators Association of China. He also serves as an evaluator for the Ministry of Education’s undergraduate teaching, graduate thesis review, and CET-4/6 examination system in Sichuan.

His contributions to teaching and scholarship have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Tang Lixin Outstanding Teacher Award (2016), the Si Guo Award (2023), and multiple Sichuan Provincial and university-level Teaching Achievement Prizes. His ESP textbook Workplace English (Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, 2016) has sold over 110,000 copies, been reprinted 22 times, and is used in more than 200 universities nationwide. The accompanying MOOC, taken by nearly 150,000 students from over 600 universities, was designated a National Excellent Online Open Course in 2018 and a National First-Class Course in 2020.

He currently teaches courses on Medio-Translatology and the history of translation at the graduate level, and workplace English and Freshman Seminar for foreign Language Majors at the undergraduate level.
