    本实验室(原名:分子进化与应用生物学实验室,Laboratory of Molecular Evolution and Applied Biology,LMEAB,2016年更名为生物信息与创新药物实验室(Bioinformatics and Innovative Drug Laboratory, (Bio-IDL)依托西南交通大学生命科学与工程学院硬、软件综合优势, 以生命与健康国家和地方重大需求为导向,  (民族)特色医药资源为对象,细胞与分子生物学、生物信息与计算机辅助药物设计等现代理论与技术工艺为方法,生物文库与展示、微生物与基因工程、细胞与动物分子药理等为主要平台,目前主要兴趣与开展:1)基于癌症、感染与炎症等重大疾病的植物药/中药(民族医药)研发;2)基于癌症靶标的多肽小分子先导药物的研究与发现。

    目前,具有自主知识产权和强抗肿瘤活性的创新多肽P201已完成大量前期基础研究;与企业联合研发的国家发明专利“天然植物抗菌液”(PAMs)系列产品已推广市场;在研有抗多种病原微生物、肿瘤的中药/植物药产品。发表学术期刊论文100余篇,已培养毕业(博)硕士研究生50余名,授权发明专利9项。

    Introduction to “Bioinformatics and  Innovative Drug Laboratory” (Bio-IDL)

      Bio-IDL was founded in 2004 and formerly  known as“Laboratory of Molecular Evolution and Applied Biology”(LMEAB).  Sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China, State  Administration of Traditional Chinese medicine, Ministry of Education, Ministry  of Science and Technology, Ministry of Housing and urban-rural Development,  Department of Housing and urban-rural development of Sichuan province, Southwest  Jiaotong University and Yunnan Puer Danzhou Pharmaceutical Company Ltd, our lab  has established the molecular evolution and applied biology platforms including  bioinformatics and computer aided drug design, biological library and  high-throughput screening, and molecular and cellular biology. We had completed  more than seventeen research programs including “Studies on the Selection and  Display of the High Efficient Heavy Metal-Binding Peptides”,  “Combined Control and Remediation of Soil Heavy Metal Pollution with Plant Roots  and Microbes Based on Biological Library and Display”, “Rearrangement of Specimens from  Folk Medicinal Plants in Natural Reserve”, “Practical Techniques for Rural Waste  Water Treatment”, “Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics”, “Laboratory studies of Natural Plant Anti-microbial  Solutions”. We had close cooperation and exchanges with both inboard and  abroad outstanding scientists’ laboratories including from Chinese Academy of  Forestry, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences/Peking Union Medical College,  Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.  

    At  present, we had finished the preliminary study of the anti-cancer P201 peptide  which is innovative with independent intellectual property right, the joint  development of PAMs with entrepreneur had come to the market with multiples  functions such as anti-microbial infection and anti-inflammation, analgesia,  regeneration, enhancing immunity, anti-cancer and other biological activities.  We had published 100 research papers, 37 graduate students were  graduated.

    Currently, we are particularly interested in the following  research areas (1) Screening and development of peptides and small molecules  targeting cancers, (2) Development of medicinal plants/folk medicine and mechanisms of  molecular/pharmacology.

    We  accepted graduate candidates both for the major of Biology and Pharmacology. We  also accepted PhD candidates for the major of Material Science and Engineering  in the area of innovative drugs and carrier material” (Affiliated to the School  of Materials Science and Engineering, SWJTU). Welcome both domestic and  international students for applying.
