Dr. Rui Zhao received his PhD Degree in Sustainable Design and Technology, from University of Hull,sponsored by “Hull-China Joint Research Scholarship”. In January 2013, Dr. Rui Zhao started his career and served as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Geosciences and Environmental Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University. Since 2016, Rui Zhao has received a full professorship in the Faculty of Geosciences and Environmental Engineering. In 2017, Prof. Zhao was appointed as the Head of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering. Prof. Zhao’s current research in the field of sustainable engineering in the field of sustainable engineering has focused on mathematical modelling and computational approaches, which is capable of providing mitigation strategies to limit environmental burden, as well as promote sustainable development. A significant proportion of my research is interdisciplinary study, whilst using theory of system theory to identify and analyze environmental issues in order for better decision making in the area of low carbon production and consumption, green supply chain management. Prof. Zhao has published 32 open literature publications as the first or corresponding author. In addition, Dr. Zhao has been appointed as an associate editor for journal “Energy & Environment” to handle with manuscripts relevant to energy policy and low-carbon development, and served as the reviewers for several high quality international journals, such as Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Environmental Management etc.
