Brief Biography
Prof. Yan Qixiang, doctor of engineering and postdoctoral fellow, is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Southwest Jiaotong University. He is currently the Director of Department of Underground Engineering and the Executive Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Transportation Tunnel Engineering, Ministry of Education. Prof. Yan is a State Specially Appointed Expert, selected as an Innovation Leading Talent of National Special Support Program for High-level Personnel Recruitment led By the Department of the CPC Central Committee. He has successively led and acted as a major researcher in more than 60 scientific research projects under the General Program (Key Program) of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Program on Key Basic Research Project of China (973 Program), National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program), National Key Technology Research and Development Program, Key and Major Projects of the Ministry of Railways, and Scientific Projects of Transportation Construction in Western China. Individual certificates obtained by Prof. Yan include one first prize (ranking 7th) and two second prizes (ranking 7th and 10th) of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, one second prize (ranking 3rd) of the State Technological Invention Award, and five first prizes and two second prizes of provincial- and ministerial-level Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.Additionally, he is also the winner of one Mao Yisheng Railway Science and Technology Award and one Zhan Tianyou Railway Science and Technology Special Award. Prof. Yan has acquired 18 national invention patents and 20 patents for utility models; published two Monographs and more than 180 papers on domestic and international journals , including over 90 on SCI/EI journals such as Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Engineering Failure Analysis. At the same time, Prof. Yan was an executive council member of Underwater Tunnel Engineering Technology Branch of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering, council member of Rail Transit Branch of China Civil Engineering Society, council member of Risk and Insurance Research Branch of China Civil Engineering Society，Deputy Director of Metro Professional Committee of Tunnel and Underground Engineering Branch and Secretary General of Traffic Geotechnical Engineering Professional Committee of Geomechanics and Geotechnical engineering branch.
