- Abstract:Solar active regions (ARs) provide the required magnetic energy and topological configurations for solar flares. By analyzing 322 M- and X-class flares occurring from 2010 to 2019 across nearly the entire solar cycle 24,this study investigates the relationship between flare eruptive characteristics and the evolutionary phases of ARs. The results show that while most large flares occur during the developing phase of ARs,the probability of eruptive flares is significantly higher during the decaying phase. Confined and eruptive flares occur in nearly equal numbers during developing phases, whereas eruptive flares dominate during decaying phases. Statistical analyses further reveal that strong magnetic fields facilitate flare production but tend to suppress coronal mass ejections, indicating that the decay of magnetic flux systems plays a key role in promoting flare eruptions.
