Heng-Chao Li received his B.S. degree and M.S. degree from Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China, in 2001 and 2004, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, in 2007. From 2007, he joined the Faculty of the School of Information Science & Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, where he is currently a professor with Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Information Coding and Transmission from 2012 and also is a Ph.D. supervisor from 2013. From 2013 to 2014, he was a Visiting Scholar working with Prof. William J. Emery at the University of Colorado Boulder, Boulder, CO, USA.
Dr. Li is a recipient of several scholarships or awards such as ZHANTIANYOU Railway Science and Technology Award (2010) and New Century Excellent Talents by Ministry of Education (2011). Up to now, he is a Principal Investigator of 9 fundings, especially including two NSFC grants. In addition, he also served as a Reviewer for many international journals and conferences, e.g., IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON GEOSCIENCE AND REMOTE SENSING, IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN APPLIED EARTH OBSERVATIONS AND REMOTE SENSING, IEEE GEOSCIENCE AND REMOTE SENSING LETTERS, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON IMAGE PROCESSING, IET Radar, Sonar and Navigation, IET Signal Processing, IET Communications, Canadian Journal of Remote Sensing, International Journal of Antennas and Propagation, International Journal of Electronics and Communications, SCIENCE CHINA Information Sciences, ICIC2008, APSAR2011, and IGARSS2008/09/10/13/14/15/16. Moreover in 2014, he was a Guest Editor of The Scientific World Journal Special Issue and also was nominated from Member, IEEE to Senior Member, IEEE. From November 2015, Dr. Li is serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN APPLIED EARTH OBSERVATIONS AND REMOTE SENSING.
He has published more than 70 technical papers in various academic journals and conferences (e.g., IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON GEOSCIENCE AND REMOTE SENSING、 IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN SIGNAL PROCESSING, IEEE JOURNAL OF SELECTED TOPICS IN APPLIED EARTH OBSERVATIONS AND REMOTE SENSING、 IEEE GEOSCIENCE AND REMOTE SENSING LETTERS, and JOURNAL OF APPLIED REMOTE SENSING), which have received over 200 SCI citations. Meanwhile, he has 4 Chinese patents together with other 5 applications of Chinese patents, and has taken part in the edition of one book.
