Faculty Profile

GONG Xun, Professor/PhD Supervisor, Deputy Dean of the School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence, Deputy Director of the Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Sustainable Urban Transportation under the Ministry of Education, and Deputy Director of the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory. He is a visiting scholar at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the United States, was selected for the 2022–2023 Outstanding Teachers Reward Program for Computer Science Majors in Higher Education, and is a reserve candidate for academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province.  

He serves as the Secretary-General of the Computer Teaching Steering Committee for Higher Education Institutions in Sichuan Province, Executive Director of the Sichuan Artificial Intelligence Society, Distinguished Expert of the Overseas High-Level Talents Program of the Sichuan Association for Science and Technology, and representative of the Sichuan Association for Science and Technology. He is also the Chief Expert of the Engineering Master's and Doctoral Training Reform Project under the Ministry of Education, Head of the Provincial High-Level Course in Sichuan Higher Education Institutions.

In recent years, his research has focused on interdisciplinary AI issues in fields such as AI + healthcare and geological disaster management. He has won the First Prize in Natural Sciences from Chongqing Municipality and the First Prize at the 7th Sichuan Provincial Forum for Doctors and Experts. He has served as the principal investigator for four National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and multiple provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects. His team was awarded the 2024 Sichuan Provincial Youth Science and Technology Innovation Research Team Project. He has published over 100 high-level academic papers in journals and conferences such as IEEE Transactions, ICCV, IJCAI, AAAI, and PR, holds 18 authorized invention patents and has authored 5 monographs.

He is actively involved in various academic organizations, serving as an Executive Committee Member of the CCF Computer Vision Technical Committee (CCF-CV), a member of the Academic Committee of the Sichuan Clinical Medical Research Center for Digestive System Diseases, a member of the Academic Committee of the Hebei Key Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, and a member of the Rough Set and Knowledge Discovery Professional Committee of the Artificial Intelligence Society. He has been invited to deliver keynote speeches multiple times and serves as a member of the Organizing Committee for the IJCAI Workshop (STRL2025), Co-Chair of the Program Committee for ICMLC (2022–2025), and a Program Committee Member for international conferences such as ICCV2025 and CCBR (2019–2025).
