Shibin Gao is currently a professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China. He is a director of National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technique Research Center. Special allowances expert of the State Council of PRC. He won the National Awards for Science and Technology Progress in 2005, 2012, 2013 and 2018, won one time star prize, four times first prizes of China Railway Society Award for Science Progress, and won three times first prize of Sichuan Award for Science and Technology Progress.

Name of Research Group:Intelligent Traction Power Supply Systems (ITPSS) Team
Description of Research Group: Based on the national key discipline "Power System and Automation" and "National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technique Research Center", the research team focuses on teaching and scientific research in the subjects of "Power System and Automation" and "Rail Transit Electrification and Information Technology" under background of the rail transit industry. The monitoring and automation device for the traction power supply system developed by the team has independent intellectual property rights and has been widely used on high-speed railways, with a direct economic benefit of more than one billion yuan.
The team won four times second prizes of National Award for Science and Technology Progress; The team won one time star prize, four times first prizes, two times second prizes, and one time third prize of China Railway Society Award for Science Progress;The team won three times first prizes and two times second prizes of Sichuan Award for Science and Technology Progress. The team won three second prizes of National Award for Teaching Achievement; The team won two first prizes of Sichuan Award for Teaching Achievement.
The team has 10 teachers including 3 professors, 5 associate professors, and 2 assistant researchers.The team is devoted to training inter-disciplinary talents that closely combines with the country's major needs, and cultivates compound talents with engineering technology R&D capabilities, system integration innovation capabilities, and social service spirit. The team has trained 8 doctors and 305 master students. Graduates are widely employed in railway design institute, electrical power design institute, State Grid, Nanjing Automation CO., LTD., Nari Technology Development CO.,LTD, railway design consultation institute, universities, etc.
The team has built up intensive cooperation with other famous universities such as the University of Birmingham, the Delt University of Technology, Politecnico di TORINO. As well as with the famous industry companies like SIEMENS、AREVA、ABB. Exchanging abroad will be fully supported by our team.
