Ali Rahman is currently an assisstant professor at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). His research interests include a wide range of topics within the pavement engineering such as design & analysis of pavement structure, road materials, modified asphalt & asphalt mixture, and mechanics of pavement. Currently, his main focus is on the interface bonding behavior between asphalt pavement layers. Before joining the Ph.D. program, he was a lecturer at Jundi-Shapur Universsity of Technology in Iran for 3.5 years. In the meantime, he was cooperating as a highway engineer conultant with several consulting engineering companies. During his Ph.D. studies he involved in several research projects funded by the government or indutry partners, which their results have been published in several peer-reviewed journals.

团队名称:Highway Engineering Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province


 Highway Engineering Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province was approved by the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province in 2011, relying on the national key disciplines of road and railway engineering. The laboratory is an innovative platform for research and development of the basic theory and key technologies of road engineering for Sichuan province. It is an important base for the training of innovative talents and the cultivation of innovation achievements in road engineering under the complex natural geography and climate environment of Sichuan province.
There are currently three main research fields in the laboratory: Subgrade and pavement structure behavior theory and new road material development, intelligent distress detection and deep learning theory for transportation infrastructure, the geometric theory of highway safety, and traffic routes design in complicated and difficult mountainous areas. Through the efforts of recent years, it has formed its own research features and advantages in the relevant fields, and several research achievements have reached the international leading level.
The laboratory has 39 full-time professors, including 1 two-recruit academician, 1 national prominent educator, 1 distinguished professor of The Recruitment Program of Global Experts, 2 new century excellent talents for the Ministry of education, 11 leaders of academic and technology in Sichuan province. Among them, there are 23 professors, 7 associate professors, and 32 researchers with doctorates, accounting for 82% of the total number of permanent staff.
The laboratory construction area of more than 1510 square meters, has a group of international advanced large-scale and dedicated test equipment for pavement engineering, equipment fixed assets of about 8 million yuan, testing capacity, research, and development capabilities ranked in the forefront of Southwest part of China. In the past five years, the highway engineering laboratory has successfully carried out many research projects granted by the National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Education, and the cooperation of enterprises. At present, the laboratory has become an important research and education center of road engineering in the Southwest part of China. The research achievements have contributed greatly to the development of science, theology, and the economy at national levels.
