Dr. Yuancong Zhao, is Associate Professor of Southwest Jiaotong University and a member of Chinese Biomedical Engineering Society. He graduated from Sichuan University in 2007 with a Ph.D. and worked in Key Lab. of Advanced Technology for Materials of Education Ministry(KLAM), Southwest Jiaotong University for post-doctoral research in July 2007. In 2010, he was introduced to work in KLAM as an excellent young talent.
He leads a National Natural Science Foundation project of China, special funds for technological innovation of central government and a Science and Technology Project of Chengdu Science and Technology Agency. He, as principal researcher, has undertaken projects including two "973" projects, two "863" projects, two national Outstanding Youth Foundation projects, five national Natural Science Foundation projects and a Ministry of Education Foundation project. He was awarded the Teaching achievement prize from Chongqing Municipal Government in 2001. At present, he is the author or coauthor of more than 20 refereed articles in domestic and international core journals.

Description of Research Group:研究小组隶属于材料科学与工程学院、材料先进技术教育部重点实验室、四川省人工器官表面工程重点实验室、材料学院生物材料与表面工程研究所，在本学科学术带头人黄楠教授所领导的研究团队中从事相关研究工作。研究范围涉及对生物材料合成与表面改性、材料表面化学修饰及仿生改性、功能高分子材料合成及性能评价、材料表面生物化及其诱导内皮化、药物控释和缓释材料的合成及评价、植入器械表面改性及研发与制造等。 目前有博士和硕士研究生在该小组从事研究工作。
