Faculty Profile

Wang Hu, Ph.D., Professor, Supervisor of Master's and Doctoral Students, is a recipient of the "Chuying Plan" of Southwest Jiaotong University and a provincial-level talent program (2019). He obtained his Bachelor's degree in the Geology Science Base Class from the School of Earth Sciences, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2007, and his Ph.D. in Structural Geology from the Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration in 2012. He conducted visiting scholar exchanges at the University of Missouri–Columbia and Oregon State University in the United States during 2011–2012 and 2019–2020, respectively. From October 2012 to September 2017, he worked at the Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration, serving as Assistant Researcher and Associate Researcher. Since October 2017, he has been affiliated with the Faculty of Geosciences and Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University. His teaching and research primarily focus on the field of Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, with particular emphasis on active faults and earthquake hazards, tectonic geomorphology and geological hazard assessment, and regional stability evaluation. He has published over 70 academic papers, serves as an editorial board member of South China Journal of Seismology, a member of the Seismogeology Committee of the Seismological Society of China, a member of the CFGdIS Committee of the International Consortium on Landslides, and a reviewer for well-known domestic and international journals. He has undertaken more than 10 research and production projects.
