Education Background

born in Liao Ning province, China, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at Southwest Jiaotong University (1996), a Master of Arts in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics (2003), and a Doctor of Literature in Word Literature and Comparative Literature at the same university (2013.9-2021.6), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Translation Studies at the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies, the University of Leeds in the UK (2018.10-2023.3); was an exchange visiting scholar with State University of New York at Binghamton from Jan. 2008 to Jan. 2009 and an academic visitor from Dec. 2016 to Dec. 2017 with School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, University of Manchester, UK.

Major Publications

She has published refereed CSSCI/Core journals such as Foreign Language World (《外语界》), Modern Literary Magazine (《当代文坛》), and Chinese Translators Journal (《中国翻译》), and ISSHP journal such as Proceedings of the 49th Annual Conference of American Translators Association and so on. She is co-editor of Writing and Reading for College English Band 4 published by Tsinghua University Publishing House in 2006 and chief editor of English for Travel published by Chongqing University Press in 2008/2013. She has co-translated the book Souls Are Like the Wind: Impressions from Tibet《灵魂像风》by a well-known contemporary Chinese Tibetological writer Ma Lihua (马丽华). The book was published by OSTASIEN Verlag/ 東亞書局, Germany, in 2017. Her monograph The Reception of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature in 2010s in British Community of Chinese Studies: A Complexity Approach was published by Shanghai Sanlian Publishing House in December 2022.

Current research: Her current research is about Tibetan cultural images making through the English translations of contemporary Tibetan literature in the Anglophone world.

Teaching Commitments 

(1) undergraduate-level courses: Approaching Translators and Translations; Intercultural Communication; Introduction to Chinese Culture (bilingually given) 

(2) postgraduate-level courses: Introduction to Translation Studies; Contrastive Linguistics and Translation between Chinese and English

She would welcome prospective students who are keen on translation studies, international exchange of contemporary Chinese culture (including literature) with other cultures, or MTI students who are interested in Chinese literature or other forms of contemporary Chinese culture and willing to work hard on practical work of translation from or into Chinese.
