Faculty Profile

Ying Liu is an Assistant Professor at the School of Economics and Management, Southwest Jiaotong University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Management from the Business School of Central South University in June 2017, and her Ph.D. in Management from the School of Management and Engineering at Nanjing University in June 2023. During her doctoral studies, she joined the Operations Research and Optimization Laboratory at Nanjing University (http://1.13.183.74), under the supervision of Professor Jing Zhou and Associate Professor Qian Hu. In August 2019, she also conducted a research visit at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, National University of Singapore, under the guidance of Professor Andrew Lim.

Her research interests include project scheduling, production scheduling, and logistics management. She specializes in applying mathematical modeling, theoretical analysis, and algorithm design (including genetic algorithms, tabu search, Benders decomposition, column generation, etc.) to solve complex problems in operations management. At present, she is the principal investigator of one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Project (national level) and two university-level projects supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities. She also participates in one NSFC Key Project and two NSFC General Projects. As first author or corresponding author, she has published four papers in high-level journals in operations research and management, including European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Operations Research, and Computers & Industrial Engineering.

She welcomes motivated graduate and undergraduate students to join her research team! She hopes prospective members will approach both research and life with enthusiasm, a positive and proactive attitude, basic teamwork and communication awareness, and the ability to carry out research tasks diligently. Programming skills (or a willingness to learn programming) are expected, and the group will provide tailored guidance to help students improve. During their studies, students will also be supported to attend 1–2 domestic or international academic conferences.
