He obtained his Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Kerry Rowe in June 2015 at Queen's University, Canada, and then joined in Department of Road and Railway Engineering in School of Civil Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University. Dr. Liu's research interests cover the pile foundations of offshore structures, railway/highway subgrade engineering, transportation geotechnics, environmental geotechnics et al. So far, he has published more than 20 papers indexed by SCI in reputable journals mainly in Canadian Geotechnical Journal, Geotextiles and Geomembranes, Computers and Geotechnics, Acta Geotechnica, Construction and Building Materials, Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering et al.
Dr. Liu is currently serving as the Associate Editor of Geotextiles and Geomembranes, the Editorial Board Member of Canadian Geotechnical Journal, and a reviewer for more than 20 International Journals.
Dr. Liu was awarded the first prize, the second prize and the third prize of the China Railway Society Science and Technology Progress Award successively. Also, he was awarded the mentor of the outstanding 100 undergraduate projects (thesis) of Southwest Jiaotong University in 2020, and the supervisor of the outstanding master's thesis of Southwest Jiaotong University in 2020.
