Wen-Shuai Hu

Dr. Wen-Shuai Hu received the Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Engineering from the School of Information Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, in June 2022, under the supervision of Professor Heng-Chao Li.

Research Interests:
Intelligent interpretation and applications of remote sensing images, computer vision and pattern recognition, deep learning and lightweighting design.

Education and Work Experience:

• June 2016: B.Sc. in Electronic Information Science and Technology, School of Information Science and Engineering, Shanxi Agricultural University.

• June 2022: Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering, School of Information Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University (supervised by Professor Heng-Chao Li).

• July 2022-April 2023: Worked at Xi’an Aviation Computing Technology Research Institute, Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

• June 2023-Present: Teli Postdoctoral Fellow, School of Information and Electronics, Beijing Institute of Technology (co-supervised by Professor Ran Tao and Professor Wei Li).

• 2026-Present: Joined the "Remote Sensing Intelligence and Computing" Group led by Professor Heng-Chao Li, School of Information Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University.

Research Grants:
He serves as Principal Investigator of projects including the Young Scientists Fund (Category C) of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the National-funded Postdoctoral Researcher Program, the General Grant of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation  and the Open Fund of Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Spatial Information Perception and Intelligent Processing (Yango University). Also served as a key research member in multiple NSFC projects and pre-research commissioned projects.

Honors and Awards:

• Second Prize of the Natural Science Award (Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award) of the Ministry of Education, 2025 (ranked 4/7).

• Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, 2022 (ranked 1/1) — the first doctoral dissertation from Southwest Jiaotong University to receive this honor.

Publications and Patents:
He has published over 20 academic papers in leading international journals and conferences in artificial intelligence and remote sensing, including IEEE TNNLS, IEEE JSTSP, IEEE TGRS, etc. Among them, 13 papers were as first or corresponding author, and two papers are ESI Highly Cited Papers. Google Scholar citations exceed 700. Moreover, He has been granted or filed 7 national invention patents.

Academic Services:
Guest Editor of the international journal Remote Sensing; Reviewer for multiple international journals/conferences including IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TGRS, IEEE JSTARS, etc.

The "Remote Sensing Intelligence and Computing" Group (led by Professor Heng-Chao Li) recruits 7–10 master students and 1–2 Ph.D. students each year.
