Guo Chun: Born in 1979 in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang, China. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Southwest Jiaotong University, and a visiting scholar at George Mason University, USA. His main research interests include green, low-carbon, and energy-saving technologies throughout the full life cycle of tunnels and underground engineering, environmental control, and disaster prevention and mitigation. He has been honored with the Zhan Tianyou Railway Science and Technology Youth Award, the China Highway Top 100 Outstanding Engineers Award, the Outstanding Engineer Award in Central and Western China Civil Engineering and Architecture, and has been recognized as a Sichuan Provincial Overseas High-Level Talented Returnee and a Candidate for Sichuan Provincial Academic and Technical Leader. He serves as the Secretary of the Teaching Guidance Group for Urban Underground Space Engineering under the Ministry of Education, Vice Chair of the Tunnel Operation Ventilation, Lighting, and Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Technical Committee of the World Transport Convention, an expert on counter-terrorism work for Sichuan Province, and an expert of the Chengdu Municipal Territorial Spatial Planning Commission. He has served as the lead editor for 2 group standards, and has contributed to the development of 1 industry standard and over 10 local and enterprise standards. He has led more than 60 research projects, published over 200 papers in journals including Nature partner journals, and authored or edited more than 20 monographs and textbooks in both Chinese and English. He has filed for and been granted over 30 patents and software copyrights, and has received more than 20 awards in science, technology, and education at various levels. He has supervised doctoral students who were selected as one of the 15th "Chinese College Students of the Year," and has guided students to win over 20 national top prizes and other awards in disciplinary competitions at various levels.
